Origin: Appenzell, Switzerland

Raw materials: 42 selected alpine herbs, roots, flowers, seeds and natural spices, alcohol, water, sugar.

Color: Dark amber with golden highlights

Nose: Intense and complex, dominated by herbaceous and spicy notes. Scents of gentian, alpine roots, mint and anise emerge, accompanied by hints of orange peel and caramel.

Taste: Dry and bitter, balanced by a subtle sweetness. On the palate, alpine herbs and roots stand out, with hints of bitter almond, citrus and spices. A long, persistent, fresh and slightly mentholated finish.

Alcohol content: 29%

Serving temperature: 6-10 °C, ideal served neat or on the rocks. Also excellent as an ingredient in cocktails.

Pairings: Perfect as a digestif after hearty meals. Pairs well with dark chocolate desserts, spiced biscuits and dried fruit. Also interesting with aged and blue cheeses, or as a bitter base in cocktails.

Terroir: Born in the Appenzell alpine region, an area characterized by mountainous landscapes and a long herbal tradition. The secret recipe uses 42 selected herbs, many of which are harvested locally, which lend aromatic complexity and territorial authenticity.

Production: Created in 1902 by Emil Ebneter, it is still produced today following the original recipe. The herbs are macerated in alcohol and water, left to infuse to extract the aromas, then blended, filtered and bottled. No artificial additives, only natural raw materials.
