Origin: Bas-Armagnac, Gascony, France
Grape Varieties: Ugni Blanc, Baco Blanc, Colombard, Folle Blanche
Color: Deep, dark amber, with mahogany reflections and intense copper highlights acquired during decades of aging in wood.
Nose: Complex and aristocratic, dominated by mature notes of dried plum, candied orange peel, leather, sweet tobacco, and the characteristic "rancio" nuance typical of very long aging.
Taste: Sumptuous, warm, and velvety. The entry on the palate is powerful yet incredibly harmonious, with a return of sweet spices, bitter cocoa, and toasted wood. Infinite and extremely clean finish.
Alcohol content: 40%
Serving temperature: 18-20°C (serve in a balloon or tulip glass, warming the glass exclusively with the palm of your hand)
Pairings: A pure meditation spirit. It pairs perfectly with extra dark chocolate or a structured cigar, but expresses its best when enjoyed on its own.
Terroir: The Maison's vineyards sit on Gascon soils known as "sables fauves," composed of quartz sands rich in iron oxides that give the spirit its typical finesse, roundness, and aromatic elegance.
Distillation: The process differs from wine production: the grapes undergo natural pressing and fermentation without sulfites; this is followed by artisanal continuous distillation in the traditional copper Armagnac still. The liquid is then aged for decades in 400-liter Gascon oak barrels, until the moment it is transferred to glass demijohns ("bonbonnes") to preserve its evolution.
Description: The Jean Cavé Millésime 1956 Armagnac is a piece of liquid history from Gascony, kept within the historic cellars of Lannepax founded in 1883. This vintage represents an absolute rarity, a testament to the craftsmanship of the mid-twentieth century. Each individual bottle is packaged and labeled by hand upon request, guaranteeing the authenticity and controlled origin of a spirit that has spanned nearly seventy years of history. The combination of the sandy soils of Bas-Armagnac and the infinite rest in local wood has forged a work of art for collectors and experts worldwide.
Classification: AOC Armagnac (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée)
Type: Spirit / Armagnac
Allergens: No added sulfites (Absent following distillation)
Philosophy: Integrated production (Artisanal and traditional management of the vineyard and distillation)
