Origin: Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, Italy

Grape variety: Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello)

Color: Intense garnet red with ruby reflections, typical of mature Brunellos.

Nose: Complex and refined, with notes of ripe red fruit such as cherry and plum, followed by hints of violet, sweet spices, tobacco, and leather. Balsamic nuances and hints of forest floor emerge, adding to its olfactory depth.

Taste: Elegant and structured, with well-integrated and persistent tannins. On the palate, it offers a pleasant combination of freshness and structure, with a balance between lively acidity and notes of red fruit, licorice, and spices. The finish is long, with mineral hints that reflect the terroir of Montalcino.

Alcohol content: 13.5%

Serving temperature: 18/20° C

Pairings: Perfect with red meat dishes, game, braised meats, and roasts. Ideal with aged cheeses, such as Tuscan pecorino, and mushroom or truffle-based dishes. It can also accompany flavorful first courses like pappardelle with wild boar ragù.

Terroir: The Brunello di Montalcino Il Greppo is born on hilly terrain characterized by soils rich in galestro and alberese, which give the wine a marked minerality and a complex tannic structure. The climate of Montalcino, with cold winters and hot summers, fosters a slow and uniform ripening of the grapes, ensuring wines of great longevity.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested manually and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete vats, followed by a long aging process of over 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, which imparts elegance and complexity to the wine.

Description: The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Il Greppo by Biondi Santi is an iconic wine, a symbol of Tuscan tradition and excellence. It is produced by the historic Biondi Santi winery, a pioneer of Brunello, which has managed to keep the distinctive characteristics of the Sangiovese Grosso grown in Montalcino intact. This wine represents an example of classicism and longevity, capable of evolving and improving with age. Its distinctive characteristics and rigorous vineyard selection make it a wine of great personality and prestige.
