Grape Variety: 100% Montepulciano
Color: Intense ruby red with violet hues that tend toward garnet with aging.
Nose: Broad and complex, with notes of ripe red fruits such as black cherry, blackberry, and plum, accompanied by hints of sweet spices, dark chocolate, tobacco, and light touches of vanilla and licorice.
Palate: Intense, full-bodied, and enveloping, with soft, well-structured tannins that give the wine excellent persistence. On the palate, notes of ripe fruit, cocoa, and spices are perceived, balanced by a freshness that adds liveliness. Long, spicy finish with a refined, velvety feel.
Alcohol content: 14.5%
Serving temperature: 16-18°C
Food pairings: Ideal with red meats, game, roasts, and aged cheeses. Perfect with game dishes, braised meats, stews, and meat-based dishes cooked in sauce. Also excellent with structured and savory pasta dishes, such as baked lasagna and pasta with meat ragù.
Terroir: The vines grow on medium-textured clay and limestone soils, which impart structure and minerality to the wine. The Abruzzo microclimate, characterized by hot, dry summers and cold winters, promotes optimal ripening of the Montepulciano grapes, lending complexity and concentration to the wine.
Vinification: The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo traditional fermentation. Maceration is prolonged to favor the extraction of tannins and aromas. This is followed by aging in French oak barriques for approximately 12–18 months, which adds depth and aromatic complexity.
