Origin: Negrar, Valpolicella, Veneto, Italy
Grape Variety: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Color: Deep ruby red with garnet hues, testifying to the wine's long maturation and complexity.
Nose: Intense and layered, with a bouquet that opens with notes of ripe red fruit such as cherry and blackberry, enriched by hints of aromatic herbs, tobacco, dark chocolate, and a balsamic nuance that adds freshness.
Palate: Full-bodied and rich on the palate, with a significant yet well-integrated tannic structure. The flavors are full and complex, offering a fusion of dark fruit, sweet spices, and cocoa, with a long, persistent finish characterized by a light note of bitter herbs that provides balance.
Alcohol content: 16.5%
Serving temperature: 18-20° C
Pairings: This Cabernet is ideal with substantial dishes such as meat roasts, game, braised meats, aged cheeses, and truffle-based dishes. It also pairs perfectly with traditional Venetian dishes such as Amarone-braised beef or savory aged cheeses.
Terroir: The grapes are grown on the hills of Valpolicella, in clay-limestone soils that impart minerality and depth to the wine. The vines, carefully cultivated, benefit from a unique microclimate that alternates warm days with cool nights, promoting slow grape ripening and high aromatic concentration.
Vinification: After manual harvesting, the grapes are dried for several months to concentrate sugars and aromas. This is followed by a long fermentation in oak barrels and at least seven years of aging before bottling, which gives the wine its unique complexity and structure.
Description: The 2016 Alzero IGT is a masterpiece from the historic Giuseppe Quintarelli winery, considered one of the pinnacles of Italian winemaking. It represents the height of Valpolicella's tradition and oenological knowledge, with a vinification process that creates an intense, structured wine capable of aging magnificently for decades. Thanks to the *appassimento* (drying) technique, the wine develops complex aromas and velvety tannins that make it ideal for an unforgettable tasting experience.
Classification: IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica)
Type: Red Wine
Allergens: Contains sulfites
