Origin: Mercatale in Val di Pesa, Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy

Grape Variety: 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc (average indicative percentages)

Color: Intense and deep ruby red with violet reflections

Nose: Extraordinarily complex and mature, with intense notes of morello cherry, plum, and wild berries, enriched by nuances of dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, vanilla, spices, and balsamic notes of licorice and Mediterranean scrub

Palate: Incredibly enveloping and dense, with a silky and highly elegant tannic texture. It is lively, fresh, and lingering on the palate, with a long and energetic finish characterized by hints of cocoa and spices

Alcohol content: 14.5% Vol.

Serving temperature: 16 - 18 °C

Pairings: Fine red meats, grilled Florentine steak, furred and feathered game, complex roasts, red wine braised meats, and aged cheeses

Terroir: Tignanello Estate. Soils derived from the breakdown of marl (alberese) and schist (galestro) rocks, rich in skeleton and limestone, located at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters above sea level, with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night

Vinification: Manual selection and optical sorting of the berries. Fermentation and maceration in steel and wooden tanks at controlled temperatures for about 15-20 days, treating each variety and parcel separately. Transferred into French and Hungarian oak barriques (partially new) where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for about 14-16 months. This is followed by blending and a further 12 months of bottle aging before being released on the market

Detailed description:
Tignanello is a milestone in world winemaking. Produced exclusively in the best vintages from the 57-hectare vineyard of the same name with a south-west exposure, it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet, and one of the first reds in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes. A symbol of innovation and tradition, Tignanello offers a perfect balance between the vibrant tension of Sangiovese and the aristocratic structure of the Cabernets, ensuring an aging potential of decades.

Classification: Tuscany IGT

Type: Still red wine

Dosage: Not applicable (Still wine)

Allergens: Contains sulfites

Awards and scores: Multi-award winning and consistently at the top of international criticism with average scores ranging between 96 and 100/100 (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, James Suckling, Wine Spectator, Vinous) and regularly awarded the "Tre Bicchieri" by Gambero Rosso.

Production philosophy: Integrated production
