Color: Intense ruby red with orange highlights that evolve with aging.
Nose: Complex and enveloping, with notes of ripe red fruit, such as plum and cherry, accompanied by hints of licorice, vanilla, and delicate spices derived from aging in wood.
Palate: Dry, full-bodied, and well-structured. The tannins are elegant and well-balanced with a lively freshness, while flavors of wild berries, plum, and sweet spice notes emerge on the palate. The finish is long and persistent, with a minerality that reflects the volcanic terroir.
Alcohol content: 14%
Serving temperature: 16-18° C
Pairings: Pairs perfectly with roasted red meats, braised dishes, aged cheeses, and spicy dishes. Also ideal with game and wild fowl.
Terroir: The Taurasi Riserva “Il Vicario” comes from vineyards in the most suitable areas of Irpinia, characterized by volcanic soils rich in minerals. The temperature variations between day and night favor a slow ripening of the grapes, enhancing aromas and complexity.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in steel. The wine is aged for 4 years, including 18 months in French oak barriques, which give the wine greater complexity and longevity. This is followed by bottle aging before release.
Description: The 2015 Taurasi Riserva “Il Vicario” is a wine of great structure and elegance, a perfect expression of Aglianico. Long and persistent, it evolves beautifully over time thanks to the prolonged aging. With well-polished tannins and a complex aromatic profile, it represents an excellent example of the high-quality production of the D'Antiche Terre winery.
