Origin: Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Grape Variety: 100% Sangiovese Grosso
Color: Intense garnet red with ruby reflections, characteristic of wood maturation and aging.
Bouquet: Complex and deep bouquet, with scents of ripe red fruit such as cherry and black cherry, accompanied by notes of forest floor, leather, and sweet spices, with hints of vanilla and sweet tobacco derived from barrel aging.
Taste: Elegant and harmonious, with a powerful yet well-integrated tannic structure that provides persistence and pleasure. Notes of plum, black cherry, and light balsamic touches emerge on the palate, enriched by good freshness and minerality that lend balance and longevity. Long and enveloping finish.
Alcohol content: 14.5%
Serving temperature: 18/20°C
Pairings: Excellent paired with grilled red meats, roasts, game, and aged cheeses. Also ideal with game dishes and braised meats, enriched by aromatic herbs like rosemary, which enhance its characteristics.
Terroir: The Sangiovese Grosso vines are grown on the hilly terrain of Montalcino, at an altitude that promotes ventilation and balanced ripening of the grapes. The limestone and clay-rich soils give the wine a distinct minerality, making it structured and suited for long aging. The climate, with hot, dry summers and cool nights, allows for slow ripening, which helps develop the complex aromatic characteristics of Brunello.
Vinification: Manual harvest followed by temperature-controlled fermentation, with long maceration on the skins to maximize extraction and structure. Subsequently, the wine is aged in large oak barrels for at least two years, followed by another 12 months of bottle aging to enhance its elegance and complexity.
Description: The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from Molino Sant'Antimo represents the ultimate expression of Sangiovese Grosso, embodying the tradition and elegance typical of great Tuscan wines. A wine that offers complexity, structure, and intensity, capable of evolving over time and providing emotions for both expert palates and those looking for a wine for special occasions. The 2018 presents itself as a vintage of excellent balance, with a velvety tannic structure and freshness that increase its aging potential.
