Origin: Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo (Michet and Lampia sub-varieties)
Color: Clear, bright ruby red with historic garnet reflections of great transparency and brilliance
Nose: Extraordinarily austere, monumental, and layered. It reveals a sublime bouquet of withered rose, violet, cherry in spirits, and plum, intertwined with deep notes of black truffle, pure licorice, leather, pipe tobacco, tar, graphite, and mineral balsamic qualities
Palate: Majestic, powerful, and aristocratic. On the palate, it displays a monumental structure supported by a very dense yet incredibly sculpted tannic texture, accompanied by a vibrant mineral freshness. The finish is of infinite length, with returns of noble spices, goudron, and dried red fruits
Alcohol content: 14.5% - 15% Vol. (depending on the vintage)
Serving temperature: 18 - 20 °C (opening a few hours before tasting is recommended)
Pairings: High-cuisine dishes based on furred game, braised beef with Barolo, jugged hare (lepre à la royale), rich dishes based on White Truffle from Alba, and very aged hard cheeses
Terroir: Francia Vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. Calcareous and clayey marl of Helvetian origin (Langhian-Tortonian), rich in limestone and microelements. Perfect south/south-east exposure at an altitude of approximately 380-500 meters above sea level, characterized by significant temperature fluctuations and constant ventilation
Vinification: Maniacal selection of grapes exclusively from the Francia Vineyard in extraordinary vintages. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in 61 hl wooden vats without temperature control and with very long macerations on the skins (up to 35-40 days). Rigorous aging in large traditional Slavonian oak barrels for approximately 6-7 years, followed by a long rest in the bottle before release
