Origin: Turin, Piedmont, Italy
Raw materials: White base wine (varietal blend), flavored with herbs, spices, citrus peels, and cinchona (quinine).
Color: Intense brownish-red with golden reflections and topaz hues.
Nose: Complex and aromatic, with herbaceous notes, candied citrus, bitter orange peel, cinchona, cloves, and spicy nuances.
Palate: Sweet at the opening, immediately balanced by the distinct bitterness of the cinchona. Smooth, persistent, and harmonious, with a long, bitter finish that alternates between candied fruit and warm spices.
Alcohol content: 16% vol.
Serving temperature: 4-6 °C if served neat with ice or soda, 6-8 °C if used in cocktails.
Pairings: Classic aperitif, neat with ice and an orange twist. Cocktails such as Americano, Negroni, and Manhattan. Excellent with 70% dark chocolate. Interesting with savory appetizers, cured meats, and medium-intensity aged cheeses.
Terroir: The wine base comes from Piedmontese vineyards, with a continental climate and significant temperature fluctuations that ensure freshness and acidity. The complexity also derives from the selected botanicals, sourced from various areas renowned for the cultivation of aromatic herbs.
Vinification: The base wine is fortified and flavored through an infusion of herbs, spices, citrus peels, and cinchona. There is no vintage, but rather a constant recipe passed down since 1870. A resting period follows to harmonize the components. Contains sulfites.
Description: Punt e Mes is an iconic vermouth, created in Turin in 1870 at the behest of Carpano. Its name means "a point and a half," recalling the perfect balance between one part sweet and half part bitter. On the palate, it offers elegance and character: an interplay of initial sweetness and distinct, persistent, and refined bitterness. It is a versatile companion, ideal both to drink neat as an aperitif and as a fundamental ingredient in great classic cocktails.
Classification: Bitter red vermouth / Flavored aperitif.
Type: Aperitif / Red vermouth.
Allergens: Contains sulfites.
Awards and ratings: 94 points in the Guida Peñín. Best Semi-Sweet Vermouth at the World Vermouth Awards 2020.
Philosophy: Traditional production
