Le Crocine Marzichi Lenzi
It all began one day in 1993; I was 16 years old and a dear friend offered me some wine with a pizza. That day, the bottle I unknowingly uncorked opened my mind to a new world that, all these years later, has never ceased to fascinate me. It was a bottle of 1982 Haut-Brion. Perhaps it was a sign of destiny, because that bottle, to which I will be eternally grateful, made me realize that wine was not just pleasant to drink, but in some cases could also evoke emotions. Since then, I have never stopped searching for those same sensations. For years, I was content with tasting wines to learn how to ‘understand’ them and, at times, grasp their secrets—what ingredients, when skillfully blended, could release something more overwhelming than a simple flavor. But soon, the unspoken dream became to be able to produce one of my own, sooner or later. The birth of my first child pushed me toward a turning point. Suddenly, I felt the need to return to my roots. I was born and raised on a typical Tuscan farm, so wine is part of my DNA. I have beautiful memories of when I would accompany my father to taste the fermenting wines of that "rustic" Sangiovese we produced on the farm.
