Origin: Valpolicella, Verona, Veneto, Italy
Grape Varieties: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and other indigenous varieties
Color: Intense ruby red with garnet reflections, full-bodied and impenetrable.
Nose: Rich and complex, with notes of ripe red fruit and cherries in spirits. Nuances of plum, black cherry, and blackberry intertwine with spicy hints of black pepper, tobacco, and cocoa. Touches of vanilla and leather add depth to the bouquet, reflecting the aging in wood.
Palate: Dry, robust, and enveloping, with soft, well-integrated, velvety tannins. The structure is powerful, supported by a balanced acidity that provides freshness. On the palate, intense flavors of ripe red fruits and sweet spices are perceived, followed by a long aromatic finish with balsamic and mineral hints.
Alcohol content: 16%
Serving temperature: 18-20°C
Pairings: Perfect with substantial red meats, roasts, game, braised meats, and truffle-based dishes. It also pairs well with aged cheeses and rich, structured dishes. An excellent companion for meditation evenings, ideal to be savored slowly.
Terroir: The Tenuta Sant'Antonio vineyards are cultivated on calcareous and mineral-rich soils at approximately 300 meters above sea level, benefiting from temperature variations that enhance the aromatic quality of the grapes. Attention to sustainable viticulture and optimal vine exposure contribute to a slow and regular ripening, giving the wine a unique character and particular elegance.
Vinification: After manual harvesting, the grapes are dried for about three months in a fruit-drying room, a traditional technique that intensifies aromas and flavors. This is followed by a long and controlled fermentation and aging in oak barrels for over 24 months, conferring complexity and softness to the wine. The wine rests further in the bottle before being released to the market, to fully develop its organoleptic characteristics.
Description: The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Campo dei Gigli by Tenuta Sant'Antonio is an Amarone of excellence, which best expresses the power and elegance of this type of wine. With its vigorous structure and complex aromatic bouquet, it represents a refined and modern interpretation of Amarone, perfect for great enthusiasts and connoisseurs. This wine has significant aging potential and promises to evolve magnificently in the bottle for years to come.
