Origin: Milan (1815), now produced in Canelli, Asti, Italy

Raw materials: Alcoholic infusion of over 33 botanicals, including Sicilian orange peel, star anise, cardamom, cloves, rhubarb, gentian, myrrh, and cinnamon

Color: Dark amber, intense, brilliant

Nose: Complex and enveloping, with citrus notes of orange, spicy hints of cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, and balsamic and resinous touches reminiscent of medicinal herbs

Taste: Bittersweet, smooth, and balanced. On the palate, nuances of orange peel, licorice, and warm spices emerge, with a long and pleasantly bitter finish that combines smoothness and balsamic freshness

Alcohol content: 30%

Serving temperature: 6/8 °C if served neat or with ice; also excellent at room temperature as a mixing ingredient

Pairings: Excellent as a digestive neat or with ice, with an orange slice, or with tonic for an aperitif. Ideal in cocktails (Black Manhattan, twisted Negronis) and with chocolate desserts or spiced sweets.

Terroir: Not tied to a wine terroir, but to the art of blending botanicals from the Mediterranean, Asia, and Africa, combined in a secret recipe that has remained unchanged since 1815.

Production: Cold maceration of over 33 herbs, spices, and roots, followed by filtration and the addition of sugar and neutral alcohol. Secret recipe, unchanged for over two centuries.
