Origin: Spain, Andalusia – Jerez de la Frontera (Marco de Jerez), region with Brandy de Jerez Geographical Indication.
Raw materials: Distillate of native white wines, aged in American and European oak casks. White wines from Palomino and Airén grapes. Demineralized water (to adjust alcohol content). Ex-Oloroso Sherry American oak casks (for aging in the Solera system).
Color: Intense mahogany with golden reflections, very brilliant.
Nose: Complex and articulated bouquet: notes of dried plum, raisins, figs, coffee, dark chocolate, candied orange, vanilla, leather, and pipe tobacco, sometimes with balsamic hints.
Palate: Full, smooth, and balanced on the palate. Intense flavors of plum and dates, caramel, vanilla, toffee, and dark chocolate emerge, with a slight spicy touch and notes of honey and tobacco. Long and enveloping finish.
Alcohol content: 40% vol
Serving temperature: Ideal at 18–22 °C, or even slightly warmed by hand.
Pairings: Perfect as an after-dinner drink, for meditation, or paired with dark chocolate, aged cheeses, or fine cigars.
Terroir: Produced following the traditional Criaderas and Soleras system, in American oak casks previously used for Oloroso sherry. Aging starts at a minimum of 3 years (legal minimum for Solera Gran Reserva), but in practice reaches up to 10–12 years, providing complexity and consistent quality.
Distillation: Slow, low-temperature distillation in stills (alquitaras) of white wines from Palomino and Airén, followed by aging in ex-Oloroso casks according to the Criaderas y Soleras system, with an average aging of over 10 years.
Description: The Gran Duque d'Alba Solera Gran Reserva 40% is an iconic distillate from Williams & Humbert, a symbol of Jerez excellence. With an average maturation of over 10 years and aging in American oak casks seasoned with Oloroso, it offers a rich, elegant, and persistent sensory bouquet. Perfect as a refined digestif or for a moment of contemplative tasting. All this makes it one of the finest and most awarded expressions in the global brandy landscape.
Classification: GI, Brandy de Jerez – Solera Gran Reserva
Type: Brandy de Jerez, aged Spanish brandy
Allergens: Contains traces of natural sulfites from the base wine
Awards and ratings: Recognized by international critics for its elegance and complexity. 93 points + Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024. 91 points + Gold at the San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge 2025. 94 points from Wine Enthusiast, described as “rich, bold and almost dessert-like”.
Philosophy: Integrated, traditional production, preservation of the Jerez heritage.
