Origin: Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Grape variety: Sangiovese Grosso
Color: Intense ruby red with garnet reflections, which will evolve towards more orange tones with aging.
Nose: A broad and complex bouquet, with predominant notes of ripe red fruits such as cherry and blackberry, accompanied by hints of forest floor, leather, and a delicate balsamic touch. Spicy nuances of black pepper and sweet tobacco also emerge, along with a light note of cocoa and vanilla, the result of long aging in wood.
Palate: On the palate, it is dry, structured, and full, with dense and well-integrated tannins, balanced by a vibrant freshness. The sip is harmonious and persistent, with a sensation of warmth and a pleasant sapidity that reflects the terroir of Montalcino. The aftertaste reveals notes of berries, licorice, and a mineral touch.
Alcohol content: 14.5%
Serving temperature: 18/20° C
Pairings: This Brunello di Montalcino pairs beautifully with substantial meat dishes such as roasts, game, braised meats, and grilled steaks. It is also excellent with aged cheeses and dishes based on porcini mushrooms and truffles, offering a satisfying gastronomic experience alongside traditional Tuscan dishes.
Terroir: The vineyard is located on hilly terrain rich in clay and limestone, which lend structure and complexity to the wine. The climatic conditions of the Montalcino area, with hot, breezy summers and cold winters, favor slow and constant grape ripening, ideal for developing the aromatic depth and intense tannin component typical of Sangiovese Grosso.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and subjected to traditional vinification. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the primary aromas of the Sangiovese. The wine then matures in large oak barrels for a period of at least 36 months, followed by bottle aging for a further 12 months, to soften the tannins and achieve optimal balance.
Description: The Brunello di Montalcino from Tenuta La Fuga is a refined and vigorous expression of this historic appellation, embodying the Folonari family's passion for high-quality wines. Elegant and complex, this wine represents the oenological excellence of the Montalcino territory, combining structure, freshness, and extraordinary aromatic depth. The tannic complexity and longevity of this Brunello make it perfect both for current consumption and for aging, offering an unforgettable tasting experience.
