Origin: Miyagikyo Distillery, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan
Raw materials: Predominantly corn, with a small percentage of barley and other grains
Color: Bright gold with golden highlights
Nose: Sweet and enveloping, with notes of vanilla, caramel, tropical fruits such as banana and coconut, accompanied by hints of citrus and a touch of melon
Palate: Soft and velvety, dominated by corn which provides a creamy and buttery sweetness; notes of vanilla, caramel, and exotic fruits emerge, with a delicate and persistent finish, slightly spicy
Alcohol content: 45%
Serving temperature: 18/20° C; excellent neat, with ice or a few drops of water to open up the aromas
Pairings: Ideal with milk chocolate-based desserts, creams, and tropical fruit; interesting with foie gras and creamy cheeses; versatile in classic cocktails such as whisky sour, Japanese highball, or a reinterpreted Old Fashioned
Terroir: Distilled using "Coffey still" column stills imported from Scotland in the 1960s, which ensure continuous distillation while maintaining body and aromatic complexity. Aging takes place in reused, rejuvenated, or toasted American oak barrels, which add roundness without masking the grain’s aromas.
Production: Not a single malt but a grain whisky. The absence of an age statement highlights the use of different vintages blended to reach the ideal aromatic profile.
