Origin: France, Champagne (Épernay / Hautvillers)
Grape Variety: Blend of Chardonnay (54%) and Pinot Noir (46%)
Color: Brilliant straw yellow with warm golden highlights and an exceptionally fine, persistent, and luminous perlage.
Nose: Broad, radiant, and layered. It opens with sunny, pulpy fruit—ripe mango, yellow kiwi, and apricot—enriched by balsamic nuances, hints of fresh ivy, mandarin peel, and elegant spicy notes of ginger and eucalyptus.
Palate: Tense, opulent, yet precise. The entry is enveloping, rich in substance and aromatic fruity intensity, supported by a vibrant acidity and a persistent finish with a noble mineral length and pleasant toasted and chalky notes.
Alcohol Content: 12.5% Vol.
Serving Temperature: 10 - 12 °C
Pairings: Caviar, shellfish tartare (langoustines and red prawns), steamed lobster with citrus, baked turbot, aged bloomy-rind cheeses, or white truffle.
Terroir: Rigorous selection from historic Grand Cru vineyards of Champagne (including Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Ay, Bouzy, Verzenay) and the Premier Cru of the Abbey of Hautvillers. Limestone and chalky soils (craie) that impart extraordinary minerality, depth, and longevity.
Vinification: Selective manual harvest. First fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation completed. Second fermentation in the bottle with prolonged aging on the lees in the historic cellars of Épernay for over 6-7 years before disgorgement (dégorgement).
Description: The Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 Limited Edition by Damien Hirst celebrates the sublime encounter between the art of precision winemaking and the avant-garde of contemporary British art. Signed by Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon – the first vintage entirely conceived and overseen under his direction – this vintage recounts a sunny and generous harvest, balanced by oenological mastery that preserves its freshness and verticality. The special artistic livery conceived by Damien Hirst draws inspiration from the famous "Kaleidoscope" series, transforming the bottle into a collector's sculpture where the assembly of petals and wings reflects the perfect assembly of Champagne's terroirs.
