Origin: Ghemme, Novara, Piedmont, Italy

Grape Variety: Nebbiolo (90%), Vespolina (10%)

Color: Intense garnet red with orange highlights due to aging

Bouquet: Complex and refined, with notes of wild berries, ripe cherry, and raspberry, accompanied by hints of violet and underbrush, with spicy nuances of black pepper, leather, and licorice emerging progressively.

Taste: Dry, structured, and highly elegant, characterized by velvety and persistent tannins, with good acidity that provides freshness. Flavors of ripe red fruit, earthy notes, and a slight spiciness emerge on the palate. The finish is long, harmonious, and of great complexity.

Alcohol content: 13.5%

Serving temperature: 18°C

Pairings: Ideal with roasted red meats, game, braised meats, and aged cheeses. It also pairs well with Piedmontese dishes such as braised beef in Barolo and elaborate recipes based on mushrooms and truffles, enhancing their rich, earthy flavors.

Terroir: The vineyards are located on mineral-rich alluvial soils, where Nebbiolo develops unique characteristics. The cool climate of the Ghemme area, with significant temperature variations between day and night, favors slow and steady grape ripening, giving the wine distinct finesse and a marked tannic structure, ideal for aging.

Vinification: Harvesting is manual, followed by traditional fermentation with long maceration periods to optimally extract the aromas and structure of the Nebbiolo. After fermentation, the wine matures in oak barrels for at least three years, followed by further refinement in the bottle. This process allows the tannins to round out and grants the wine greater aromatic complexity.

Description: The Ghemme DOCG by Torraccia del Piantavigna is a wine that fully reflects its territory of origin, with the decisive structure and aromatic finesse typical of Nebbiolo from the Piedmontese hills. It is a wine meant for long aging, capable of evolving and revealing new nuances over time. This Ghemme is an elegant and austere expression, ideal for those seeking a complex wine with deep territorial roots.
