Origin: Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico

Raw materials: 100% Espadín

Color: Crystalline, clear and brilliant

Nose (Aroma): Herbaceous and fruity, with delicate smoky notes. Nuances of green smoke, aromatic herbs such as oregano and mint emerge, accompanied by hints of tropical fruit and tamarind.

Palate: Balanced and silky, with an aromatic profile that combines the natural sweetness of the agave with smoky and spicy black pepper notes. The finish is long, soft, and persistent, with a slightly mineral and vegetal aftertaste.

Alcohol content: 40% Vol.

Serving temperature: 18-22 °C

Pairings: Ideal to enjoy neat to fully grasp its nuances, or with ice. It pairs well with grilled meats, semi-aged cheeses, typical Mexican cuisine dishes with spicy sauces, and smoked preparations. Also excellent with citrus or dishes that balance the smoky component.

Terroir: The Espadín agaves grow in the volcanic, mineral-rich soils of Oaxaca, an area historically dedicated to the production of mezcal. The warm climate with cool nights promotes a slow and complete maturation of the plants, enhancing complexity and aroma.

Production:

  • Cooking: the piñas are cooked for 4-6 days in underground pits lined with volcanic stones.

  • Cooling: the piñas rest for about 24 hours before crushing.

  • Crushing: carried out with a Tahona stone wheel.

  • Fermentation: natural for 6-8 days in wooden vats.

  • Distillation: double distillation in copper stills.

  • Refining: rests for up to 2 months before bottling, maintaining the freshness typical of a joven mezcal.

Description:

Complex and refined, yet soft and versatile, it is a perfect example of the balanced style that distinguishes Casamigos production.

Classification: Mezcal Joven (unaged)

Allergens: Contains naturally occurring trace sulfites (not declared as “no added sulfites”)

Philosophy: Artisanal production with traditional methods → Integrated production
