Origin: Castel San Pietro, Mendrisiotto, Ticino, Switzerland.
Grape variety: Merlot.
Colour: Intense ruby red.
Aroma: Complex bouquet with notes of cedar wood, ripe berries, dark chocolate, vanilla, toasted hints, and nuances of coffee.
Taste: Vigorous and round, with refined tannins and a long, enveloping finish. Aromas of great finesse and character are perceived on the palate.
Serving temperature: 18°C.
Pairings: Perfect with red meats, aged cheeses, grilled dishes, game, and typical Ticinese cuisine.
Terroir: Vineyards located in the Mendrisiotto region, primarily in Castel San Pietro, on calcareous soils that impart structure and longevity to the wine.
Vinification: The grapes come from old, low-yield vines and are aged for at least 18 months in French oak barriques, which provide complexity and nobility.
Description: The Rubro Riserva TI DOC Merlot represents the excellence of Ticinese Merlot, with an elegant aromatic profile and a structure ideal for aging. This wine expresses the best of the Mendrisiotto terroir and the art of the Valsangiacomo winery in processing the grapes and in the aging process.
Classification: Ticino DOC Merlot Riserva.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
Awards and ratings: The 2019 vintage was awarded a gold medal at the 2023 Mondial du Merlot.
