Origin: Monte Carasso, Canton Ticino, Switzerland

Grape varieties: Merlot, Carminoir, Pinot Noir

Color: Intense ruby red

Bouquet: Complex and enveloping, with notes of blackcurrant, blueberry, violet, rose, nutmeg, fern, and cedar. Aging in barrique adds toasted hints of cloves, tobacco, vanilla, and liquorice.

Taste: Dry, structured, with elegant and persistent tannins. On the palate, it confirms the aromatic notes with intensity and elegance, offering a complexity that ensures excellent aging potential.

Alcohol content: 14%

Serving temperature: 16-18°C

Pairings: Ideal with hearty dishes such as Ticino-style kid goat with baked potatoes and chard. Also excellent with game meats accompanied by chestnuts, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, and spätzle. It also pairs well with alpine cheeses aged for 12-24 months.

Terroir: The grapes come from old vineyards located on the hill of Monte Carasso, with 45-50 year old vines and a yield limited to 600 g/m². This provides the wine with a raw material of excellent quality, with a high concentration of aromatic substances and polyphenols, as well as ideal acidity.

Vinification: After a long maturation on the vine, the grapes are harvested and dried in a fruit-drying room for two weeks, until a 15-18% loss of initial weight. This is followed by alcoholic fermentation with a 30-day maceration and aging in 225-litre French oak barriques for 24 months before bottling.

Description: The Vindala from Cantina Settemaggio is a Swiss red wine of great structure and complexity, the result of meticulous grape selection and a winemaking process that combines tradition and innovation. The drying of the grapes gives the wine a unique aromatic concentration, while the aging in barriques adds elegance and depth. It is a wine that fully reflects the Ticino terroir and the Marcionetti family's experience in producing high-quality wines.
